The Yamaha YEV-105 is a five-string electric violin in Yamaha's YEV line, built around an open five-layer wood frame of maple, mahogany, and spruce with an oil-finished walnut outer frame. It keeps the same shape and playing geometry as an acoustic violin, accepts standard chin and shoulder rests, and uses a high-output passive bridge pickup that requires no battery, making it suited to live performance.
