Marshall JCM800 2203

100-watt single-channel valve guitar amplifier head

The JCM800 2203 is a 100-watt single-channel all-valve guitar amplifier head, powered by EL34 output valves and ECC83 preamp valves. It pairs a single master-volume preamp with a series FX loop and selectable speaker-impedance outputs. Its raw, mid-forward crunch made it a defining rock and metal head of the 1980s.

The JCM800 is Marshall's master-volume valve amplifier series introduced in 1981, named for Jim Marshall's initials and his 'JCM' car registration. Stripped-down and aggressive, with a master volume that lets players reach valve saturation at lower levels, the JCM800 defined 1980s hard rock and metal tone and remains one of Marshall's most influential lines.
