The Yamaha SV-250 is a professional four-string Silent Violin from Yamaha's Silent Series. It uses a hollow-body design with a spruce top and flamed maple back that form a small resonant chamber under the bridge, an ebony fingerboard and pegs, and an Aubert maple bridge fitted with Yamaha's dual pickup system that blends a bright electric tone with a more acoustic body sound. An external control box houses the preamp, volume, and treble/bass controls with 1/4-inch and XLR outputs, keeping the instrument at about 500 grams, close to a traditional acoustic violin.
