The Korg M1, released in 1988, is a digital synthesizer workstation and one of the best-selling synthesizers of all time. It combined sample-based synthesis with effects and a built-in sequencer, and its preset sounds—especially its piano and 'Universe' patches—defined much of late-1980s and 1990s music.
