    Acoustic guitar · United States

Introduced in 1922 under acoustic engineer Lloyd Loar, the L-5 was the first guitar with f-holes and set the template for the modern archtop. As Gibson's premier jazz and big-band guitar, it was played by figures from Maybelle Carter to Wes Montgomery.
