Two nitrided steel shells glued at the rim, hammered into a tuned central note and a ring of tone fields, played with the hands rather than sticks. PANArt built the Hang from 2000 to 2013, never in quantity and never to order, and every handpan since descends from it.

The Machinedrum builds each voice from a chosen synthesis machine — analogue modelling, FM, wavetable, or short samples — and drives them with Elektron's parameter-lock sequencer, so a pattern can change any parameter on any step.
